Candle Wicks
Wedo, based in Nettetal, Germany, is the leading candle wick manufacturer
in Europe. We found these wicks appealing due to their high quality
of manufacture and the efficient burn characteristics which they
exhibit.
All Wedo wicks are made from pure long strand
ring spun cotton and are attractively white in appearance.
The LX wick is a uniquely braided, coreless, flat wick manufactured
with stabilizing threads that ensure an optimum burn profile. This
allows for a very stable and consistent flame, which minimizes,
or eliminates, carbon buildup (mushrooming) while reducing afterglow,
smoke and soot.
The LX series of wicks is designed to improve
the burning of paraffin and vegetable waxes in pillars as well as
containers.
This is a round wick with a uniquely braided cotton core designed
with tension threads that give the wick a slight, but effective,
curl during combustion. The wick is directional in that capillary
action flows more freely in one direction. Due to their intricate
design, the RRD series provides a centered burn pool, self-trimming
burn characteristics and a consistently high rate of fuel flow.
These wicks work well with viscous fuels such
as vegetable wax, gels and one pours. They are effective in containers
and especially useful in pillars due to their concentric burn pools.
The TL wick is flat braided with a non-cored
construction which allows for optimum wick movement into the flame
during combustion. The TL line is designed to be used in tea lights
and votives due to the low heat precision burning it offers in paraffin,
vegetable and gel waxes.
The ECO wick is a flat, coreless, cotton wick with thin paper filaments
interwoven for burn stability. The specially treated paper threads
provide a controlled curling of the wick making the ECO series self-trimming,
which results in minimized mushrooming, soot and smoke.
ECO wicks are particularly successful in lower
melt-point vegetable and paraffin waxes.
The FW wick is a flat braided, coreless wick
that has a very effective self-trimming wick profile that minimizes
carbon buildup, soot and smoke. These wicks can be used in many
different applications and with most paraffin wax formulations.
This is a specialty flat wick with unique non-cored braiding which
allows it to maintain a consistent flow of fuel regardless of the
fuel’s viscosity. The wick has a self-trimming burn profile
and a special treatment intended to reduce mushrooming, smoke, soot
and afterglow.
This series is used effectively in many diverse
applications and is especially effective in gel candles.
This is a paper core wick with tension threads wrapped around the
paper center to create a solid-cored rigid wick which takes on a
slight curl when burning, allowing for a self-trimming flame posture.
The P series is considered to be a directional
wick with a definite ideal directional flow. These wicks are effective
anywhere physical rigidity is desired.
